Induce is dead serious! I am sure Induce doesn't mind if you get a kick out of his music, just as long as you appreciate it one way or the other. In past posts I have mentioned that I am not a fan of modern R&B but I am a fan of oldschool R&B which depending how far back you go can also be Rock & Roll or Soul! I have been going crazy trying to find this version of "Rock Bottom" since the tape recorded from the Saturday Night Funk Box broke on me!!! Never mind what anyone else told you, this is Miami's real Hip Hop history! The first of its kind representing this city via Hip Hop not to be confused with Miami Bass which was reppin heavily at the time but not lyrically, not Hip Hop. Sometimes being a DJ and being around the scene for as long as I have you become jaded or even stand off-ish to new artist and music. Seems everyone is the next big thing, everyone is the hottest on the mic or blah blah blah. Anjuli Stars was no different but the difference is I decided to actually give it a listen and I am glad I did. If you frequent this site you should know I am not a fan of modern R&B but I was a fan of classic golden era Hip Hop / R&B ala Mary J Blige, SWV, Soul 4 Real, Jodeci etc. This mixtape took me to that era and gave me that good ol' feeling. Anjuli seems to do it all on this mixtape, rhyming, singing, writing original material, playing music and I wouldnt doubt if she did the graphics! (lol). I have been meaning to post this up for a while and when I mean a while I mean for a couple years now! Mother Superia gave me a promo copy of this album some time during 95/96 and unfortunately the CD became even more valuable to me when the album was shelved by Island Music. I use to show off my limited edition CD like it was gold and as of recent that CD has gone missing!!! For those who don't know who Mother Superia is, she was Miami Hip Hop's golden child who was set to take the country by storm. She was suppose to expose Miami's thriving Hip Hop scene and showcase the talent that was ripe to explode! Unfortunately the music industry had other plans!
